Garret Vreeland of the weblog Array has been helping organize " Behind the Curtain: A day in the life of webloggers". Well over 160 people who write weblogs took pictures during a 24-hour period of their choice between 12:01am Sunday, September 17, 2000, and 11:59pm Monday, September 18, 2000. Then, a few days later, each posted a photo album showing what they took.
'behind the curtain' is a reference to 'the wizard of oz' of course ... "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain." we type earnestly at all hours, dancing behind that curtain of the internet ...
'behind the curtain: a day in the life of webloggers' is purely an attempt to help break down our preconceptions. in our online writings, we 'assume' we know each other. humans, being extremely visual animals, create images of the individual on the other end of that internet connection. there are a few of us who think it's time to test our notions of one another, show where we live, and to understand a bit better how ... and even possibly why ... each of us choose to weblog."
